New Evs to Meet Every Driving Need and Budget
New EVs may only make up a small portion of total car sales today, but most major manufacturers have big plans to expand their range and performance. New-to-EV brands like Lucid, Rivian, and Tesla are also bringing their own unique twists to the EV formula. The result is a dizzying array of choices that can be tailored to meet every driving need and budget.
With a starting price of just $40,925 for the well-equipped Wind trim level, Kia’s front-wheel-drive Niro EV is a family-friendly choice with a WLTP-rated 258 miles of range and peppy performance. Its bigger twin-motor sibling, the EV6, is also available and can get to 300+ miles on a charge.
Introducing the Latest Models: New EVs to Watch Out For
The achingly pretty Genesis X concept was slated for production late this year, and it will probably cost a fortune. Then there’s the upcoming GMC Sierra EV, which will show up a little later and will likely start at over $100,000.
Luxury SUVs are the best-selling segment of the new EV market, so it’s no surprise that a few makers have decided to tackle them. Look out for the 2024 arrival of Volkswagen’s ID. X SUV, which will use the MEB platform seen in its other EVs. Expect it to come in rear- and all-wheel drive configurations with either a 52- or 77-kWh battery capable of up to 335 miles. The SUV should offer fast charging of up to 80 percent in 10 minutes too.
